The third-annual SummerPalooza Festival, hosted by the Madison Children’s Museum and the Rotary Club of Madison, features all-day free museum admission, outdoor activity tables, free performances and a parade around the Capitol Square at noon, featuring local groups Black Star Drum Line, Mama Digdown’s Brass Band, The Handphibians and more.

Now in its 26th year, the Marquette Neighborhood is again ushering in summer with great music, food and beautiful outdoor fun. Catch performances by El Clan Destino, Herencia Musical, Whitney Mann, Maps and Atlases and great food from neighborhood favorites Lao Laan-Xang, Plaka Taverna, Jamerica and others. No carry-in beverages, handicap-accessible, free, all ages.

Enjoy samples from the area’s finest and most beloved food carts, join in games and activities, and watch a movie on an inflatable screen under the stars! Food carts start serving at 6 p.m., and the movie starts at 8:45 p.m. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, friends, and family. Free, all ages.

Now in its 12th season, this party in the park happens every 3rd Monday of the month through August. Enjoy live music, food and drinks at Fitchburg’s premier outdoor summer event. Bring your own picnic and beverages or get food and drink from one of the many popular food carts. This Monday’s performance is by bluegrass-rock-folk band Dead Horse. Free, all ages.

Make M6ves: A Hip-Hop Dance Showcase
The Barrymore Theatre, 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:15 p.m.)
The Sweatshop Showcase, ‘MAKE M6VES’ is the sixth installment of Madison’s only ever evening of Hip-Hop dance that highlights choreography, culture and community. This unique event fosters rich authentic relationships between the dancers and the arts community they grow up in. Dancers from local schools, dance companies and studios will participate in the show. A community fundraising event for a Youth Scholarship Program features dancers from all across Wisconsin. Juneteenth Day Celebration
Annual parade begins at 4 p.m. at Brittingham Park on Friday and outdoor festivities will begin at noon at Olin Turville Park on Saturday. This year marks the 150th anniversary of Juneteenth Day, which commemorates the end of slavery. Celebrate Black lives, community, history and pride at this free, all ages, two-day event.

Esperanza Spalding presenting Emily’s D+Evolution

Exploring theater, poetry and movement, Grammy Award-winning bassist-composer-singer Esperanza Spalding’s new project Emily’s D+Evolution will present all new material that unfolds as live musical vignettes. Tickets are $35.

Isthmus Jazz Festival
Wisconsin Union Theater, begins Friday at 4:30 p.m. on the Union Terrace and concludes Sat. night.
Featuring headliner Freddy Cole Trio and the UW Jazz Orchestra, don’t miss this fantastic weekend of all jazz. Other performances include Joel Patterson Trio, Ben Ferris Octet, Edi Rey y Su Salsera, Black Star Drum Line, Tony Castaneda Latin Jazz Superband, and the Alison Margaret Quintet, as well as workshops, films and more. All performances are free, except for the Freddy Cole Trio.
