June is Dairy Month and what better way to celebrate than to bring the whole family to meet and greet cows and baby calves from local dairy farms?! Located just off the Capitol Square during the Farmer’s Market, this is a free and family-friendly event with live music, great food and fun games.

The first and third weekend of every month from May through September, Madison’s Urban Pop-Up Flea Market features the area’s finest makers, collectors and small batch producers. Local food carts, collectibles, crafts, park activities, DJs, buskers, vintage recyclables and much more! Beginning June 4 pop-up markets will also be held from 12 – 7 p.m. at the top of State Street.

Beginning Friday, June 5 from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., this annual summer book, bake and AV sale is a great way to start summer entertainment or find gifts! Find new or good-as-new books, DVDs, CDs and delicious baked goods. There will be a special Bag Sale on Saturday from 12 – 2 p.m., where you get all you can fit into a paper grocery bag for only $5!

The Madison Metropolitan Chapter of The Links, Incorporated will present its annual African American Student Recognition Program. This year’s theme is “Empowering Students Through Education.” Recognition program for elementary students starts at 1:30 p.m. and for middle and high school students at 3:15 p.m.

Combining Puerto Rican jíbaro music with plena and bomba, along with pop and jazz influences, Herencia Musical is a legendary group that spans two generations of family. They will also be playing at the Marquette Waterfront Festival on June 13. $10 cover.

Festa Junina (Portuguese for “June Festival”) is a traditional northern Brazilian holiday that’s celebrated with lots of music, food, and drinks. Musical acts include Metabaque, Grupo Balança, Madison Choro Ensemble, Otimo Madison Brazilian Dance, Madison Afrobeat Ensemble and the Samba Novistas. $10 in advance and $12 at the door, 21+.
