As a Community, Natural Resources, and Economic Development (CNRED) program area and CCED member, the Community Development Specialist will provide leadership, direction, and coordination of the University of Wisconsin-Extension community development applied research and outreach education efforts. These efforts include planning and delivery of educational programs, directly and through county, tribal and regional Cooperative Extension faculty and staff, using a variety of traditional and innovative means. The Community Development Specialist will also endeavor to meet community needs and interests by effectively collaborating with community and economic development organizations, associations, and other interest groups. This position will maintain a programmatic relationship that is centered in and directed by the CCED and will work collaboratively with other Cooperative Extension program areas and faculty and staff at other UW-System campuses.

As an academic staff member of the University of Wisconsin-Extension, Cooperative Extension, employed with Family Living Programs, the Program Specialist for the Wisconsin Nutrition Education Program (WNEP) provides leadership for training, staff development, and evaluation.
 
  • Collaborate with other WNEP state and county staff, provide guidance, leadership and technical expertise for professional development for county-based WNEP staff to build skills and capabilities in teaching low-income individuals and groups
  • Coordinate conferences, trainings and professional development for WNEP staff
  • Serve as WNEP advisor to selected county-based WNEP coordinators as they plan and conduct educational programs, prepare reports and participate in statewide program efforts • Plan and implement program evaluation focused on the impacts of the Wisconsin Nutrition Education Program to document and communicate results of WNEP programming • Communicate Extension’s value by developing effective relationships and providing relevant program outcome information to public officials, legislators, the general public and other interested parties
  • Reach and engage diverse audiences in ways that are inclusive and do not discriminate to ensure full access to programs, facilities and educational services

Bachelor degree in marketing or related field required plus 1-3 years experience with project coordination in marketing, communications or administration. Ability to work quickly under pressure, outstanding attention to detail with a strong sense of organizational and departmental objectives, volunteer management experience, and basic familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
