Memorial High School graduate Audera Cox is now a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, where she’s studying to receive her Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice and Business. She currently serves as the Student Senate Director of Diversity and Inclusivity and has used this role as a vehicle for change on campus and throughout the community. She has planned several educational and diversity related events to promote social change and awareness. Some of these events include: A Know Your Rights campaign providing information regarding illegal searches and seizures during police stops, and changing and rebranding a national marketing campaign for Special Olympics. She’s hosted UW-Platteville’s first ever Women’s Wellness Conference which provided educational resources for women and men on campus regarding women’s issues. Recently she’s been named UW-Platteville Woman of the Year. She currently works at a juvenile group home facility for at-risk youth and is studying for the LSAT. She hopes to attend UW-Madison for law school and eventually become a state prosecutor.
