Felix Series of New Writing presents poetry and music of the African diaspora, featuring award winning experimental writer Nathaniel Mackey reading from his recent work exploring american music and african folk traditions.

Spring celebration to kick off the growing season with free food and music by local Bluegrass group Sortin’ The Mail.

Protest march from Brittingham Park to the Capitol organized by the Immigrant Labor Union to advocate for fair treatment of immigrant workers during the national celebration of International Worker’s day.

Cartel Fashion Expo

30 West Mifflin St., Madison.
100arts to hold Spring fashion expo and galleria exhibiting local artists, featuring fashion by Earl Grey and Shady Lady Collection, as well as live music, food and drink, and a photo shoot for all guests provided by Graydon Schwartz Photography. $10 suggested donation.

STRUT! Parade
1 – 5 p.m.
Capitol Square. Free. 
Celebrate and participate in the collaborative artistic efforts of local creative and cultural groups featuring stilt-walking, dance, music, design, puppetry, and more with special guests the Brooklyn Jumbies and Bently Spang.

Revelry Music & Arts Festival
Noon
800 Langdon Street, Madison. $10 for students; $30 for the general public. 
Third annual year-end celebratory music and arts festival for UW-Madison students presented by the Wisconsin Union. Chance the Rapper headlines the 2015 performance lineup of national and local artists.
 
Sunday, May 3
Sunday Afternoon Live at the Chazen
12:30 p.m.
Chazen Museum of Art, 750 University Ave., Madison. Free. 
Concert series on the first Sunday of every month consists of classical music performances. Musical performance for May’s concert is the UW-Madison artists in residence, “Pro Arte Quartet,” the first quartet to reach its centennial.

Movies on the Patio: Star Wars Uncut
All day
The Malt House, 2609 E. Washington Ave, Madison. Free. 
Celebratory event for fans of the Star Wars film franchise, features free outdoor screening of the crowd-sourced hit movie Star Wars Uncut, as well as space-themed beers and a costume contest.
 
Tuesday, May 5
Savvy City Cycling Training
6 – 7:30 p.m.
The Bubbler, Madison Central Library, 201 W. Mifflin St., Madison. Free. 
Monthly adult and teen instructional workshop provides training and information focused on topics such as safety, transportation laws and expert advice to learn and improve fundamentals of daily bicycle commute.
