Wisconsin NAACP and NAACP Dane County to hold first ever candidates forum

September 23, 2014

By NAACP Dane County Branch
MADISON — The Wisconsin NAACP Conference of Branches, and the local NAACP of Dane County, in conjunction with Edgewood College, will present their first ever Candidates Forum.  The forum will be held at the Edgewood College Predolin Humanities Center, Anderson Auditorium on the Edgewood College campus, Thursday, Oct.9, from 5-9 p.m..  This moderated, non-partisan forum is designed to expand voter knowledge on issues and candidate positions that will ultimately impact the lives of the people of Wisconsin.  The public invited.
Major party candidates vying for Wisconsin's state-wide Constitutional offices, as well as those seeking election to State Senate District 13, and Assembly Districts 37,79, and 81 have been invited to attend.  Each constitutional office and electoral district will be scheduled for a 30-35 minute session within the four hours.
"The State and Local NAACP believe this Forum to be central to the NAACP's mission of encouraging and promoting voter education, and this is an excellent opportunity for the candidates to speak to their diverse constituencies," said NAACP Political Action Chair, Greg Jones.  NAACP Wisconsin Conference of Branches President, Lillie Wilson further stated, "It's the goal of the NAACP to not only expand voter participation, but provide the people of the State of Wisconsin with opportunities that will expand their knowledge of the people we ultimately vote into office."
