Race to Equity Scholarship

MADISON — The Wisconsin Council on Children and Families and the Race to Equity Project are pleased to announce the availability of two “Race to Equity” scholarships. One $1000 scholarship and one $500 scholarship will be awarded to two students graduating from a Dane County high school in the spring of 2015 who plan to enroll in secondary education or vocational training. To apply, applicants should submit an essay of 500-1000 typewritten words that answers the question, “What does racial equity mean to me?”Applications will be evaluated on the student’s ability to express the importance of racial equity in our community and world, and how it has personally affected their lives. We hope to recognize students who exhibit understanding, knowledge, and passion on racial equity and social justice in their personal essay.
To apply:
Email your essay along with your name, name of high school, and phone number to wwolf@wccf.org by September 1, 2014. Please also submit the name, phone number, and email address of one non-related adult reference.

Additional information:
• Applicant must be graduating from a Dane County high school in the spring of 2015.
• Winners will be announced no later than September 8, 2014.
• Winners must attend the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families’ “Step Forward for Kids” event on the evening of September 18 in Madison, WI to accept the scholarship.
• Scholarship payments will be made directly to the secondary education or vocational training institute once enrollment for the fall of 2015 has been verified
