The University of Wisconsin – Madison has been ranked among the top 25 research institutions in the world. The university’s Office of Human Resources (OHR) is recruiting for a University Relations Specialist to develop and execute an integrated, multifaceted marketing and communications strategy to inform employees and build and sustain exceptional human resources (HR) practices. This person will ensure that communications are aligned and targeted across all media channels including print, web, new media (including social) and special events. The primary role will be to create and execute the overall OHR communication strategic plan.
The UW-Madison human resource program is undergoing transformational change as a result of a new HR strategic plan (www.hrdesign.wisc.edu) — an unprecedented initiative to create a roadmap for enhancing the university’s ability to attract, develop, and retain employees who make UW-Madison one of the world’s pre-eminent institutions of higher education. The OHR Communications Specialist is part of the team responsible for continued implementation of this strategic plan.
This person will build positive perceptions of OHR through marketing, public relations, change management, online strategies and other communications. She/he will conceive, develop and facilitate strategies to carry out OHR’s ongoing commitment to information transparency; and inclusion of students, faculty, and staff. The Specialist will develop strong relationships with key partners to assess their expectations; and translate this information into a communication strategy.
This person will develop communication materials that can be delivered in a variety of formats including web-based, classroom, web-conference, oral presentations, and print. Other characteristics critical for success in this position are a desire to be a dedicated team member; excellent time management skills; and strong communication skills such as speaking, writing, and interpersonal communications.
