MadREP, Urban League Summit first of its kind

April 9, 2014

MADISON — In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, the Madison Region Economic Partnership (MadREP) and the Urban League of Greater Madison will host an event for Madison Region business and community leaders focused on economic development, diversity and leadership.  This event marries MadREP’s annual State of the Region Summit with the Urban League’s Workplace Diversity and Leadership Summit.
It is a forum not just for discussing the progress and next steps associated with MadREP’s Advance Now economic development strategy, but also for a frank conversation about the interdependence of efforts to promote diversity, job creation and economic growth.
Distinguished keynote speakers for the event will include:
• Joel Kotkin, a renowned author and internationally recognized authority on global, economic, political, and social trends
• Ken Salazar, former U.S. Secretary of the Interior and U.S. Senator from Colorado who brings a broad history as a farmer, small business owner, lawyer, and politician
•Maria Campbell, an expert consultant on diversity and inclusion practices who served as corporate director of diversity for SC Johnson for more than 20 years

The event will be held Friday, May 9, 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Monona Terrace Community & Convention Center.
Registration is available online now at www.advancesummit.com. Early bird rates ($199 standard/$99 nonprofit/government) are effective through April 28. Sponsorship and group rate benefits are also available.
