Dane County Parks to extend Tenney Lock hours for Rhythm and Booms and Fourth of July Holiday Weekend

June 24, 2014

By Darren Marsh, Parks Director

MADISON — There will be extended Tenney Lock hours for Rhythm and Booms on Saturday June 28th and for the Fourth of July Holiday weekend from July 3rd through July 6th.  The Tenney Lock allows access between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona on the Yahara River.
As a safety precaution a Slow-no-Wake Rule will be enforced on Lake Monona for the Rhythm and Booms Event. The Slow No Wake Rule will be in enforced  from noon until midnight on June 28th. Boaters are asked to operate at the minimum speed at which a motorized watercraft is able to move and maintain adequate steerage control.  For more information visit http://www.danewaters.com/.
In addition, please be aware that there will be a large “No Entry” area strictly enforced surrounding the staging site for Rhythm and Booms at the West end of Lake Monona.  The area will be marked with warning buoys.
Boaters are encouraged to monitor weather conditions and familiarize themselves with direct access points to shelter along the lake shore.
