14th annual Madison Money Conference

August 12, 2014

MADISON — Asset Builders, with many sponsors and community partners, will present the 14th annual Madison Money Conference on Saturday, Aug. 16 at Wright Middle School (Fish Hatchery Road in Madison).  Registration and breakfast begins at 8 a.m., with the program lasting from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The Conference is a nonprofit event for the entire family.  There is no selling or pressure to buy any financial products.  Richard Entenmann, Asset Builders’ Executive Director, said “the Conference offers high-quality education in an unbiased and fun atmosphere.  Things that people learn here can have significant “pocket-book” results in the short term, and can lead to higher net worth and income levels in the future.”
The Conference breakfast keynote speaker will be Kyle Jefferson. Mr. Jefferson is a former wide receiver on the UW football team, and standout member of the track team who competed and excelled in the 400, 800, and 1,600 meter events.  He will make the point that success in both sports and business requires a physical and mental toughness, and will share the importance of perseverance and overcoming adversity.  Mr. Jefferson is currently a successful sales and marketing executive with Verizon Wireless.
The Conference offers detailed instruction in 15 separate 1-hour classroom sessions for adults, on topics such as How to Read Your Credit Report and Improve Your Credit Score, Identity Theft – How to Prevent It, Couples and Money…You Can Work it Out!, Budget Basics – What You Need to Know, First-time Homeownership…How To!, and Family Finances During Times of Transition…Pearls of Wisdom.  Age-appropriate classes for students ages 6 and older are included.
The Conference also features:
•  childcare for a limited number of children between 2 and 6 (reservations necessary)
• 3 workshops in Spanish
• Continental breakfast
• Instruction on how to obtain a free copy of your credit report
• The opportunity to participate in a one-on-one financial review session
• Door prizes throughout the day.

Advance registration is $3 for adults and $1 for youth between the ages of 6 and 18.  Registration at the door is $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for youth.  Scholarships are available.
Asset Builders is a Wisconsin non-profit organization with a mission of promoting financial education and wealth-building strategies to enhance the quality of life of low-income youth, families and communities.  We have won three Governor’s Financial Literacy Awards for our work in promoting financial literacy.
