Welcome back to Brown Girl Green Money, and thank you for reading this post! 2015 is moving along so quickly, fall is now upon us, and in the blink of an eye it will be 2016!
I was at brunch with friends last weekend, and we shared our goals and objectives for the remainder of the year, so the purpose of this post is to be an end-of-the-year checkpoint for all Brown Girl Green Money readers. Here are a few questions that you may want to ask yourself: As of today, am I on track with all financial goals? Am I consistently making a monthly budget? Have I started creating a financial game plan for 2016? When it comes to my finances, what have I learned in 2015 so far?
I personally have learned so much this year! I’ll be honest, 2015 has consisted of a few bumps in the road, but I have continued to push forward. My debt elimination process has definitely had an impact on my life this year. Fortunately, I am able to balance paying off debt and having an active social life. One of my obstacles this year has been creating a monthly budget and actually sticking with it! It’s tough, to say the least. To combat my monthly budget woes, I have asked my friends and family to hold me accountable (even when I fuss and complain☺). However, on the bright side I am on track with all my financial goals. I look forward to completing this journey and I want to stay debt free!
As 2016 quickly approaches, I am slowly mapping out a game plan that will lead to success. My game plan consists of a list of my past mistakes from 2014 and 2015. I chose to write out all my strengths and weaknesses because I want to track my growth during this journey. Lastly, I have learned that I shouldn’t allow “paying off debt” to consume me. In the beginning of this journey, I literally tracked everything… and that was no fun for me! I now know that my identity is not in money but in Christ. I’m called to be a steward of what I’ve been given and not hoard money and/or stress over it. Just remember to finish up 2015 with a bang, stay focused and continuously pursue your financial goals.
