Hair Affair: The Art of Hair
Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, 227 State St., Madison.
Fourth biennial celebratory exhibition features models adorned with creative hair sculptures by local salons and stylists with a silent auction fundraiser for the museum.
 
Thursday, April 23
2015 Reel Love LGBT Film Festival
Marquee Theater, Union South, 5231 Memorial Union, Madison. 
This free festival presents films to celebrate the LGBT community and educate people on current issues for the LGBT Campus Center's Out and About Month.
 
Monday, April 30
7 p.m.
Staging the Self: Transformations, Invasions, and Pushing Boundaries
Vilas Hall, Room 4070, 821 University Ave., Madison.
Free; open public lecture featuring artist Martha Wilson, who will discuss her artwork as well as her arts programming over her career as a feminist, queer, and gender performance conceptual art pioneer.

4 – 5:30 p.m.
Civil Rights in an Age of Extremism
Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, 227 State St., Madison. 
Free; The Nation magazine celebrates its 150th anniversary with an event featuring a panel discussion about race, immigration, policing and what civil rights mean today in Wisconsin and America. Seating available on a first-come, first-served basis.
 
Tuesday, May 1
6 – 8 p.m.
Justified Art! Opening Reception
Overture Center for the Arts, 201 State St., Madison. 
Free; public reception features art, live music, poetry and spoken word performances. The event takes place along with MMoCA’s citywide Gallery Night.
 
Thursday, May 7
High Noon’s Summer
Patio Series
High Noon Saloon, 701 East Washington Ave., Madison. 
Free; HighNoon’s summer patio season begins as a part of Madison Craft Beer Week, featuring Tallgrass Brewing Company and a free live music by The 4onthefloor and Rodeo Bums to benefit the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center.
 
Sunday, May 17
11 – 7 p.m.
High Noon’s Summer
Patio Series
200 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Madison. 
Free; WORT FM hosts its annual block party featuring live music performances and an award-winning local microbrewery beer garden to support the community radio station.
 
Friday, May 29
6 – 10 p.m.
Beer and Chocolate Tasting
Goodman Community Center, 149 Waubesa Street, Madison. 
Tickets are $45; sample local breweries and chocolatiers to benefit the Goodman Community Center. Live music from Mama Digdown’s Brass Band and Kyle Henderson.
