Dessa Mueller
Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) is pleased to recognize Big Sister Dessa Mueller as our Big of the month. Dessa is a project manager at American Family Insurance. Big Sister Dessa and Little Sister Cassandra smile until they are bursting when they see one another! Dessa and Cassandra started as a School Friends match at Westside Elementary in Sun Prairie in March of 2014. Meeting afterschool once per week, they enjoy playing games, especially Connect Four, talking about school, and playing outside on the playground.
In the summer of 2015, Dessa, Cassandra and Cassandra’s parents decided to transition to a School Friends Plus match. They continue to meet at the school weekly, and have also gone bowling, to the movies, and out to eat at local restaurants. Cassandra loves trying new food with Dessa.
In all that they do, Dessa encourages Cassandra to be responsible, caring, and hardworking. She reminds Cassandra to treat her sisters with respect, to value her education, and be herself. Dessa plans to be Cassandra’s Big Sister until she graduates high school, and is gets excited envisioning her visits to Cassandra at college.
Cassandra’s dad glows with pride at his daughter’s improved performance in school and says that “having a Big has made all the difference.”
