MADISON — UW Health Pharmacy Services has entered into an agreement with Access Community Health Centers to provide pharmacy services at Access clinics beginning next year.
According to Steve Rough, director of pharmacy at UW Hospital and Clinics, UW Health will provide on-site comprehensive pharmacy services at the William T. Evjue and Wingra Family Medical Center clinics beginning in April. UW Health Pharmacy Services will be available at the Joyce & Marshall Erdmann clinic later in 2014.
Rough said UW Health pharmacists strive to connect with patients and families individually and personally and engage them as partners in decisions about their care.
“Our goal is to provide low-cost and convenient quality care from pharmacists trained in patient education, drug therapy management and appropriate use of medications,” said Rough. “We know that access to affordable medications with advice from expert pharmacists improves patient outcomes and reduces hospitalizations and emergency room visits.
“As we expand our pharmacy to include multiple sites with mail service and medication therapy management provided by UW Health pharmacists, this collaboration gives us the expertise to continue our high level of service while continuing to offer affordable medications for our patients,” said Access Community Health Centers CEO Dr.Ken Loving.
