TMT Contributing writer receives media award

July 23, 2014

MADISON — Anita J. Martin received the Excellence in Media Award at the Celebrate Independence! Luncheon held June 24 in Madison. This award recognizes one individual journalist or media outlet that has demonstrated an exceptional understanding of the complexities, which often surround domestic violence. Over the past several years, Martin has worked on the Raising Voices Against Violence Project (http://voicesforoneandforall.tumblr.com), which educates and engages the community to take a stand against violence. She has also written many articles highlighting DAIS’ programs, and has been instrumental in making sure these articles were printed in community newspapers across Dane County. Martin was happy to accept the the Domestic Abuse Intervention Services’ award, and thanked those at the event for the things they do to promote healthy relationships and help prevent domestic violence. She writes for Hometown News Group’s publications and The Madison Times newspaper.
