Various community events to be held in October
Throughout October, communities across the country will mourn for those whose lives were taken by domestic violence, celebrate the tremendous progress victim advocates have made over the years and connect with one another to end domestic violence.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month evolved from the “Day of Unity” held in October 1981 by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence to connect advocates across the nation who were working to end violence against women and their children.
Each year, DAIS (Domestic Abuse Intervention Services) commemorates Domestic Violence Awareness Month by hosting a number of community events and awareness raising efforts.
The 5th Annual Dress for DAIS Fashion Show will be held on Thursday, October 15, at the Overture Center for the Arts.
