January 28, 2014

MADISON — “The Trials of Muhammad Ali” will premiere at the Madison Central Library on Thursday, Feb. 13, at 6:30 pm. Following the film, local community members will join us for a thoughtful discussion led by Stu Levitan, Madison's historian and author.
Ibrahim Saeed, Islamic Center of Madison; William P. Jones, Professor of History, University of Wisconsin-Madison and author of “The March on Washington: Jobs, Freedom and the Forgotten History of Civil Rights;” and writer and editor Elizabeth DiNovella will join us for a panel discussion
This film is free and open to the public.
“The Trials of Muhammad Ali” is a feature-length documentary film covering Ali’s toughest bout, his battle to overturn the five-year prison sentence he received for refusing U.S. military service. Trials is not a boxing film. It is a fight film tracing a formative period in Ali’s life, one that is remarkably unknown to young people today and tragically neglected by those who remember him as a boxer, but overlook how controversial he was when he first took center stage.  Follow this link to the trailer: http://www.itvs.org/films/trials-of-muhammad-ali
