Capitol Rotunda to Fill for 35th Tribute & Ceremony for MLK

January 16, 2015

January 16, 2015

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Dr. Jonathan Overby will host the 35th Annual “Tribute and Ceremony”, the nation’s oldest official ceremony honoring King. Festivities will be held in the Capitol Rotunda in Madison at 12:00, noon on Jan. 19. Together, we will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King in words and music. Milwaukee’s Latino Strings Orchestra and the University of Illinois Black Chorus will all be present to offer their unique talents.

Anthony “Van” Jones, civil rights activist, author, attorney, and CNN Political Contributor, will be the guest speaker for the event. Jones is the president and co-founder of Rebuild the Dream, a platform for bottom-up, people-powered innovations to help “fix” the United States.

The ceremony is free and open to the public. Hear it live on the Ideas Network and on the NPR News and Classical Network of Wisconsin Public Radio.
