MADISON —The Madison Metropolitan School District will send three students from Badger Rock Middle School to represent Madison in the National African American History Challenge on June 13 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. at the 28th Annual Conference of 100 Black Men of America.
Badger Rock earned their appearance in the National Competition by competing with 11 other middle schools in the Madison Metropolitan School District at the 20th annual African American History Challenge (AAHC) presented by 100 Black Men of Madison on April 5.
This event is an educational African American history competition between teams of Madison middle school students in a quiz show format with the winning team awarded trophies, monetary prizes and an expense paid trip to compete against other chapters at the national competition.
“We actually view the African American History Challenge Bowl as a process rather than an event,” said Dr. Floyd Rose, President of the 100 Black Men of Madison, Inc. “The rigor of preparation provides students with the opportunity to discover truth by building on previous discoveries about those who came before them. And the process allows each student the ability to calibrate their actions regarding contributions that they can make to society.”

100 Black Men of Madison, Inc was established in 1994 as a nonprofit civic organization with the mission to make a positive difference in the lives of area youth through mentoring, education, health and wellness and economic development programs.
