MADISON — The Mu Eta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of educational scholarships for graduating high school seniors attending a 4-year accredited public or private college or university. Applications are now available for students who will be enrolled full-time for the fall 2014 semester. The scholarship amount ranges between $500-$1,000 per student and represents a one-time opportunity for the freshman year only.
The fraternity has a long and rich tradition of scholarship and recognizing academic excellence. This scholarship presents another opportunity to recognize an academically gifted, socially conscious and self-motivated student in the Greater Madison community. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. develops leaders, promotes brotherhood and academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy for our communities.
All applications must be postmarked by June 15, 2014 and submitted to Derek Johnson as referenced in the application package. Please see the attached package for additional information.
The applicant criteria are the following:
• Graduating high school senior residing in Dane County
• Cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
• Enrolled in a 4-year accredited institution for the Fall 2014 academic semester (any state)
Applicants will be judged in the following categories:
• Overall quality of application
• Grammar and sentence structure
• Complete and well organized personal statement and letters of recommendations
Factors such as academics, financial need, extra curricular activities, character, and career objectives will be considered.
The students selected for the Mu Eta Lambda Educational Scholarship will be notified by July 15.
