ELIZABETH ZIEHMKE
Big Sister Elizabeth Ziehmke and Little Sister Janiecia spend much of their time together in fits of laughter! Elizabeth, a human resources professional at American Family, and Janiecia, a bright-eyed second grader, started as a School Friends Match at Westside Elementary in the fall of 2014. Each week after school, they meet to play games and sports, work on math skills, and have even gone sledding! Janiecia is a born dancer, and lately they have been choreographing dances to her favorite songs.
This summer, Elizabeth and Janiecia will transition to School Friends Plus, which means Janiecia’s parents have given her permission to see her Big Sister outside of school. Janiecia’s parents have expressed gratitude saying that Elizabeth is great and “Janiecia loves her.” Elizabeth’s investment in Janiecia’s life has resulted in Janiecia being more confident in math and spelling, and has created safe space for Janiecia to be her full self. When she is with Elizabeth, Janiecia shines with confidence and love of life. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County is pleased to recognize Big Sister Eizabeth Ziehmke as our Big of the Month for June.
